  • Yes. All commissioned maps include revisions. Free downloadable maps are fixed designs, but any custom commission can be adjusted so the final piece matches your vision.

  • Every Red Quills map begins by hand. Ryan drafts the world on paper first before refining and preparing it for final delivery. The practical, tactile process is a huge part of why the maps feel grounded and alive.

  • Red Quills is based in Victoria, Australia, and ships prints worldwide.

  • Just send a message through the contact form or commission page. Tell Ryan about your world, what you’re imagining, and the type of map you need — he reads every enquiry personally and will guide you through the next steps.

  • Christopher R., Worldbuilders Map Commission

I commissioned a map from Ryan, giving him an overview of what I wanted but left the details to him. The map I received was gorgeous! Not only did he incorporate my details, he provided many intriguing ideas of his own that sent my gamemaster’s mind racing. I have been using it in my ongoing campaign and my players love it!

  • Scott N., Game Master Map Commission

Ryan’s maps are worth every penny. You can see for yourself that they’re gorgeous, but they’re also produced surprisingly fast. Ryan is easy to work with and communicates very well. I will definitely be back for more maps in the future!

  • Josef V., Illustrated City Map Commissions

It was wonderful working with [Ryan]! He asks questions and makes sure to be detailed to deliver exactly what you want. Both maps came in beautifully and I am very much happy of how they turned out. I very much recommend him he’s such an awesome person and his maps are truly something special and unique with each step of the process going super smoothly! Thanks again!

  • Arthur M., Isometric City Map Commission

I ordered two separated maps (lower and upper city) and Ryan went above and beyond and sent me not only those but also a version of the full city with the two maps put together. It was MIND BLOWING. I look forward to commissioning another map in the future.

What Arrives At Your Doorstep

Original Hand-Drawn Map

The heart of every commission is the original A2 hand-drawn map, inked or painted on 180gsm watercolour paper. This is the one-of-a-kind piece Ryan creates line by line, the physical artwork that brings your world into being. It arrives safely packaged, ready to display, archive, or treasure as part of your world’s history.

High-Quality Printed Copy

To give you a version you can use freely, every commission includes a professionally printed A1 enlargement of your map. This print is ideal for game sessions, reference, or collaboration; the version you hang up, roll out, annotate, or pass around without risking the original.

High-Resolution Digital File

Each commission also comes with a polished digital package: PNG, JPG, and PDF files of your map. These are colour-balanced, refined, and ready for screens, books, publishers, virtual tabletops, or personal archives. Files are delivered via a shared online folder (Google Drive by default), with alternative options available on request.
